Find your way back to work

Jobcente Plus has lanched a new campaign to help people back to work during these difficult economic times.

The new campaign, aimed at people who aren't currently working, provides information and advice on finding work, skills and training. More information on the campaign can be found below.

Find your way back to work with Jobcentre Plus.

Jobcentre Plus wants to help you get back to work quickly. Even in an economic downturn, many jobs are available. Meanwhile, we’ll step in by paying you benefits and helping you look for work or learn new skills.

Do I qualify for benefit?

Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) is the main benefit for unemployed people. When you make a new or repeat claim we can arrange for an adviser to help with your job search.

Check which benefits you might qualify for.

How do I find work again?

Many employers advertise vacancies online and ask you to apply online. To keep up with the latest vacancies, you will need to:

  • find ways of having access to the internet
  • have your own email address
  • know how to find vacancies and fill in applications online.

Jobcentre Plus has Britain's largest database of job vacancies. On average, there are 400,000 jobs available at any time. Search for a job now on DirectGov.

Jobcente Plus have also created a jobcoach which provides helpful advice on finding work; it includes CV and interview tips and information to help you overcome any concerns, find and get the job you're looking for. There is also a jobkit leaflet booklet that can be printed off for future reference.

Or you can use the kiosks when visiting a Jobcentre Plus office.

Have you ever thought of working for yourself?

If you have an idea for a business but don’t know how to get started more information is available.

What if I want or need to retrain?

Refreshing your skills or learning new ones can increase your chances of finding a new job.

Jobcentre Plus can advise you on skills options.  Depending on your age and qualifications you may be able to get free courses.

More information on skills and training can be found here.
